The Importance of Compliance Codes
18-05-2018Occupational Health and Safety compliance requirements help businesses meet best practice operations, community expectations and continual improvement.
All acts, for example the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 set the general requirements and tone for the legislative tool and work as overarching guidelines to by which organisations should operate. Regulations are the tools by which specifications for hazards (I.e. Noise, Lead, and Asbestos) as well as license requirements are detailed.
Victoria provides a further level of detailed specification regarding regulation compliance within ‘Compliance Codes’ and further general information (as required) within Guidance notes. The purpose of this further step is to provide businesses with detailed guidance regarding specific regulation requirements and more importantly guide the risk management approach taken, these seek to answer essential questions such as:
- How many first aiders do I need?
- How can I best exclude public from my demolition project?
- Worksafe Victoria: Compliance Code: Demolition
- At what depth do I need to notify Worksafe Victoria about a trench?
- Worksafe Victoria: Compliance Code: Excavation
